Measure Share of Voice With Semrush Position Tracking
December 16, 2020
Good news, data lovers!
Semrush’s daily rank tracker, Position Tracking just got an awesome new feature: Share of Voice line graph.
Please note: This metric is only available to Business level subscriptions.
Like visibility %, estimated traffic, and average position, share of voice will measure how well your site is performing on search.
You can find this metric in the Overview report and Devices and Locations report.
What Makes SoV Different From Visibility %?
While visibility % is calculated by taking into account a site’s keyword positions, SoV also takes into account every keyword’s search volume and estimated traffic.
Why is Share of Voice Important?
With this metric, you can see the ratio of traffic that each site in your niche is getting from your set of target keywords. Increasing your share of voice is a great way to showcase the success of a search campaign, as it represents a tangible rise in your audience’s awareness of your site.
In the example below, you can see how share of voice does not always equal visibility.
This is because the green line (flightclub.com) has the best ranking for a keyword in this campaign with a huge amount of search volume (yeezy).
In this case, having a high position for this keyword will have a much higher impact on your share of voice.
Watch your rankings, benchmark them to competitors, and discover SERP opportunities. Go to Position Tracking.
