We have great news for all Position Tracking users! Recently, by popular request, we have updated the Position Tracking tool with a new, extremely helpful feature that allows you to include or exclude Google's local pack rankings from all Position Tracking reports.
What is a local pack?
The local pack is the special section of the search engine result page (SERP) that normally includes a map and three geographically-related search results. Naturally, the results in this section change quite often and can be hard to predict, yet in most cases they appear right above the first organic results in SERP. Therefore, local rankings can significantly influence your Position Tracking results.
That's where the new feature comes in!
With the new feature, users who focus their attention solely on tracking organic positions can now choose to exclude all local pack rankings for all Position Tracking reports. To do so, click on the new icon in the top-right section of the interface and choose the 'Exclude local pack rankings from all reports' option, as shown in the picture below.
Alternatively, you can choose to view only local pack rankings in all the reports. However, please note that if there are no local-pack-related keywords used in your Position Tracking campaign, there will be no ranking data displayed for any domains.
By default, all local pack rankings are included in all Position Tracking reports. Such results will be marked with a specific icon. Clicking on it will reveal more detailed information, including a snapshot of the SERP containing local pack results.
Please note that since we only started collecting data for local pack rankings separately on October 14, the new feature will only impact rankings received after this date.
Please let us know what you think of this new feature by sending your comments, ideas and suggestions to [email protected].
